Confused about new sales tax filing requirements in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in South Dakota v. Wayfair, Inc.? The Department of Revenue is here to help by presenting a free webinar, hosted by the Pennsylvania Society of Tax and Accounting Professionals, at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 31. Pennsylvania Sales Tax – Economic Presence is designed for tax professionals and out-of-state businesses with Pennsylvania customers. The webinar will also provide information on a new law passed earlier this year in Pennsylvania that requires businesses making at least $100,000 in annual gross sales to Pennsylvania customers to collect and remit Pennsylvania sales tax.
The one-hour webinar will be led by James Foster and Norma Ickes, two tax experts from the Department of Revenue. Tax and accounting professionals can register online on the registration page on the PSTAP website. Business owners and members of the public can register for the webinar by calling 1-800-270-3352. Attendees will receive one CPE credit for participation.
Revenue's tax experts will break down the rules in Pennsylvania and explain:
- South Dakota v. Wayfair, Inc., and Pennsylvania's new economic presence law (PA Act 13 of 2019)
- How to determine PA economic presence for sales tax
- How the Department of Revenue is working with Certified Service Providers (CSPs), to help remote sellers meet their obligations under the law
- Online customer service resources available to assist out of state businesses with their new Pennsylvania sales tax obligations.
