Pennsylvania Taxpayers Affected by Hurricane Ida Have More time to File Tax Returns

The Pennsylvania Department of Revenue is extending the due date to file various individual and business tax returns for taxpayers in parts of Pennsylvania who were affected by Hurricane Ida. Further guidance will be posted soon. Please note there is no extension for payments.

myPATH, the Department of Revenue’s online tax system, is expanding to offer filing and payment options for the below account types, will be expanding functionality to introduce filing and payment options for the below account types:

  • Cigarette Stamping Agents, Cigarette Wholesale, Cigarette Reporting, Cigarette NPM
  • Agricultural Cooperative, Electrical Cooperative
  • Parimutuel
  • Tavern Games, Tavern Tax, Tavern Games Distributor

Use myPATH to File Your Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program Applications Online

For the first time, there is now a way for eligible Pennsylvanians to apply online for rebates from the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program. Applicants can visit mypath.pa.gov to fill out the online application to receive a rebate on property taxes or rent paid in 2020.

Submitting your application online is easy and does not require you to sign up for an account. Applicants will be asked to provide specific information on their income and rent/property taxes. You’ll also be prompted to upload information confirming your eligibility.

Using the electronic option available through mypath.pa.gov offers many benefits, including:

  • Fast processing and direct deposit options
  • The Where's My Rebate? tool to track the status of a claim online
  • Error-reducing automatic calculators
  • Instant confirmation that your application has been filed
  • Security features to ensure your sensitive information is safe

Voluntary Compliance Program For Retailers With Inventory in Pennsylvania

The Department of Revenue has extended its Voluntary Compliance Program for any business that has inventory or stores property in Pennsylvania but is not registered to collect and pay Pennsylvania taxes. This program offers a limited lookback period and penalty relief when the business becomes compliant.

Taxpayers that choose to participate in this program will not be liable for taxes owed prior to January 1, 2019. Taxpayers who participate in the program also will be given penalty relief for any non-compliance for past due tax returns that were not filed and taxes that were not paid.
